Boxed cake mixes are easy to make and affordable but they always tasts the same and bland. Although it may seem like it would take a lot of work to make one taste homemade its actually very simple if you stick to these four easy rules.
Rule #1
Replace water with the same amount of milk
Rule #2
Replace oil with the same amount of completely melted butter (If unsalted add a pinch of salt)
Rule #3
Add one extra egg
Rule #4 (optional)
For chocolate and red velvet cake mix add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips
For vanilla, white, or yellow add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For lemon add 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Bake your cake as the instructions say on the box
