Most people will agree on this: cleaning is not fun. If a room is too messy, it can be a bit overwhelming. It may even be so overwhelming that you decide to do it tomorrow, or the day after that, or the day after that... or never. Here is a way to stay focused, and finally get around to tackling that mess.
Clean your room on a day where you have a lot of time. Preferably a day that you have no plans or work. That way, you can spend an entire day dedicated to cleaning that room - or multiple, if you prefer that.
Before you start, you might want to play some music or turn on a TV show you enjoy. Doing tis will make cleaning your room a lot more fun and enjoyable.
Start by planning out where you want everything to go. Maybe write this on a piece of paper. Then, Take a bag around your room and pick up any loose trash around. Make sure you only pick up non-recycleables. Then take any bigger things (non-recycleable) you want to throw away and put them in a garbage can or place them somewhere you will be able to throw away at later.
Now go around with a recycling bin or bag and put all your recycleable trash into it. Make sure after this step you recycle these and do not end up throwing them away.
Now get all your clutter and other objects in a pile. If you have any drawers, empty these outt into a pile as well. If you spot anything particularly valuable or fragile, put that away before you start to avoid breaking it. If the objects you are cleaning up were on the floor, make the pile in the middle of the floor. If they were on a desk, make it in the middle of the desk.
Once you have everything in its piles, set a thirty minute timer. Next, pick out all your trash and put it in the bag you used earlier. Then, go through all the clutter and put it in the space you chose earlier, or back into the drawer. Once your timer goes off, take a ten minute break if you would like and do whatever you want. repeat this until everything is put away.
An easy way to make your room look a lot nicer is to make your bed. Make sure you have no wrinkles in your comforter and blankets, and organize your pillows at the top of your bed, where your head goes.
Now look around your room and see if there is anything else that needs to be cleaned up. If there is, use what you learned from the earlier steps to clean it up.
Lastly you will want to keep your room clean. If use take a few extra minutes every day, you wont have to clean your room like this again.
Have fun and see you soon!
